How to invoice a client with ChatGPT or Claude

Zippato has an MCP server. When you connect it to your AI assistant, you can create, send, and track invoices by asking in plain language. This guide shows each step.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Get Zippato Pro

Create a free account, then upgrade to Pro ($8/month). The MCP server is a Pro feature.

  2. 2

    Add your client

Add the client in Zippato with their name and email. Your AI finds clients by name or email, so the client must exist before you invoice them.

  3. 3

    Add the MCP server

In ChatGPT, Claude, or Cursor, open the connector or MCP settings and add a custom server with this URL: https://zippato.com/mcp

  4. 4

    Approve access

Your AI app opens a browser window. Log in to Zippato and approve the connection. There are no API keys to copy.

  5. 5

    Ask for the invoice

Tell your AI what to bill. For example: "Create an invoice for Acme Creative Co. for 10 hours of consulting at $150 an hour, due in 14 days." Zippato creates a draft. It does not send anything yet.

  6. 6

    Review and send

Ask your AI to show the draft and correct it if necessary. Then say "Send it." Your client gets an email with the PDF invoice.

  7. 7

    Track payment

Ask "Which invoices are overdue?" or "Show my unpaid invoices." Your AI can only see your own invoices.

To disconnect an AI app, go to Settings → Connected Apps in Zippato.
